What it actually is
A cellular-automata sandbox where painted materials interact in a small simulation. It is a creative experiment rather than a level-based challenge: place elements, observe their behaviour and build a scene around the reactions.
How to play Sandspiel
- Open the original Sandspiel site.
- Select a material and draw a small area on the canvas.
- Add another material nearby and watch how the simulation changes.
Tips for your first session
- Experiment with small patches to understand a reaction before filling the canvas.
- Treat saved or shared creations as separate from the current canvas; check the site’s controls before clearing a scene.
Controls
Select a material and draw on the canvas; use the on-screen tools to adjust your scene.
The legitimate way to play
This link goes to Max Bittker’s original Sandspiel project. Its public source repository identifies the browser implementation as using WebAssembly and WebGL; no commercial game files are needed.
If Sandspiel won't load
- Allow JavaScript and give the project time to load on a stable connection. Open the original site in its own tab, then reload once if the interface does not appear.
- Check the requirements above for Sandspiel. Graphics-based games can require hardware acceleration; text and number puzzles do not share the same graphics requirements as engine ports.
- Check the project’s save options before clearing site data. Private browsing and automatic storage cleanup can remove locally stored progress. Follow your school or workplace rules if a managed network blocks the site.
Chromebook, phone and tablet
A desktop or Chromebook with WebAssembly and WebGL is recommended. Mouse or trackpad controls are described here; mobile touch support has not been verified in this review.

Questions
Is Sandspiel a Minecraft port?
No. It is a separate falling-sand sandbox with its own materials and simulation.
Why is the canvas blank?
Check that JavaScript, WebAssembly and hardware-accelerated WebGL are available. A browser or graphics restriction can prevent the simulation from starting.
Is this part of the original Radiant Optimizer post?
No. This is an additional browser-game recommendation from TabArcade. It is a separate third-party project and does not require Radiant Optimizer.
